PEEP Valve

Alongside many other businesses nationally and globally, Lotus was proud to offer its support during the Coronavirus Pandemic to produce innovative medical equipment solution.

Lotus Engineering, led by Matt Windle, was responsible for designing a new Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) valve for ventilators in partnership with the University of East Anglia to help ease the national shortage of ventilators at hospitals and medical centres. The design is an authentic Lotus solution, where design complexity and the number of parts has been reduced, making manufacturing simpler, lighter and more efficient.

Lotus worked with suppliers to manufacture the production parts in quantity, initially for the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital but with a view to making the equipment available nationally and even internationally as required.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the many colleagues across the business that supported on this programme from Quality and Engineering, to Testing and Purchasing. It is the US LOT spirit that makes Lotus different, and as our founder, Colin Chapman said, “There are 10 solutions to every problem, don’t be satisfied with the first one.”
